Glamping resort to be near Mount Rushmore

The Deluxe Tent, which is something that will be near Mount Rushmore this summer. This tent can sleep up to four and includes a shower, sink and flushing toilet.

Camping in comfort and luxury is being brought to the Keystone area in 2018.  Visitors to the area will be able to sleep in style with a view of Mount Rushmore.

Under Canvas is creating a “glampsite” May through September, 10 minutes from Mount Rushmore. It will be like a regular campsite but people have the opportunity to be more refreshed by showers and beds than at most campsites.

Under Canvas is a family of tent companies that creates boutique-tented hotels across North America. Under Canvas took three years to scope out and put a plan together for a tent resort near Mount Rushmore.

Glamping is an up and coming trend for those who like nature but also like the amenities of the indoors. People can indulge in the luxuries of safari-inspired canvas tents with items  like bathrooms and wood-burning stoves.

There are three different type of tents. Two to eight people can sleep in the tents depending on the size. The tents can be used for an intimate getaway or a large family gathering.

Along with Mt. Rushmore there are locations planned to be near Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Grand Canyon National Park. The Under Canvas company has four tent sites right now with three other ones in development.

There are also glamping locations set up near Zion National Park, Moab, Utah, Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park.

“We are thrilled to bring the Under Canvas experience to the Midwest,” said co-founder Sarah Dusek. “Under Canvas Mount Rushmore offers the perfect backdrop for families, couples and solo adventurers who are looking to explore the endless activities available in South Dakota’s expansive backyard.”

There is a lot to explore around the “glampsite” and it is the perfect location for visitors to be exposed to the heart of the Hills. Tucked away on the outskirts of an original gold mining settlement, Under Canvas Mount Rushmore provides an incredible tree-lined landscape with views of the iconic presidential monument.

Housed in an elaborate canvas tent,  the on-site restaurant will provide a unique dining experience where glampers will enjoy leisurely breakfasts, expertly packed box lunches for explorers on the go and pioneer-inspired dinner options.

There will also be fully customizable itineraries for travelers seeking active vacations.

Activities will include a Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour, rock climbing, panning for gold or discovering the Old West on horseback. There is truly something for everyone.
