Homecoming Week in Hill City is Oct. 1 to Oct. 5. Student Council has been working on fun things for the students and there will be events for the community to enjoy as well.
Homecoming Week is one of the most anticipated weeks of the school year. It has become a custom to throw out candy during the pep assembly on Friday and much of the week in general to the students. High school principal Todd Satter said they throw out a ridiculous amount of candy to ridiculously happy kids.
“I need your help just like you helped last year in providing candy for this week. If you could bring in a bag of candy, bite size, Halloween kind of candy I would truly appreciate it,” Satter said.
He speaks for all students when he says that it is very much enjoyed. Every student in the school district leaves the pep assembly with a pocket full of candy, or a stomach full.
Patrons can drop candy off with Mary Skillingstad in the high school office. Please know that your candy will be thrown to kids at the pep assembly on Friday, October 5.
The pep rally is 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 5. There will be lots of skits and games.
After the pep rally students are released and the Homecoming Carnival will take place from 1:30- 4 p.m. at the different school gyms.
While the pep assembly is at the end of Homecoming Week, the Ranger chili cook-off is at the beginning of the week. The cost for a chili supper ticket is $3 for a child, $5 for an adult, $2 for senior citizens and $15 for a family. This takes place from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Following the chili supper is the Homecoming Coronation on Monday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. in the high school theater. Homecoming Court is partially complete. See them walk across the theater stage on Oct. 1. They are:
Freshman Prince and Princess: Taylor Tallon and Marie Peckosh
Sophomore Prince and Princess: Madesi Stedman and Jada Bell
Junior Prince and Princess: Dominick Milliken and Holly Peckosh
The King and Queen candidates are Tyler Arnold, Taylor Edwards, Cody Homan, Noah Krull, Laisha Ramirez, Karlee Simmons, Jessica Welu and Faith Yeargan.
Each day there is an opportunity to show school spirit and have fun. Monday is favorite movie/cartoon character day, Tuesday is denim on denim day, Wednesday is decades day, Thursday is class color day and Friday is green and gold day.
