Alan Contryman

Alan Lowell Contryman was born in Ogallala, Neb., in 1943 to Dale Morell Contryman and Maurine Skinner.
Lowell went to Custer (S.D.) High School, then went to work for Burlington Northern and became a locomotive engineer. He started his career in 1971 and retired from BNSF in 2003
Lowell, of Buffalo Gap, S.D., died Jan. 13, 2024, in Brighton, Colo. He was 80.
He is survived by his wife, Charon Kirk Contryman; daughter, Candy (Bill) Wills; son, Tom (Lea) Contryman; grandchildren, Alan, Kyle (Jordan), Billy, Jerrica, Jesse, Jory and Jilly; great-grandchildren Clarice, Izalia and Kolbie; and his beloved pet, Badger.
Lowell and Charon traveled the continental U.S. from Alaska to the Florida Keys for the last 20 years.
The service for Lowell and brother-in-law Fred Kirk will be held May 18 at 11 a.m. at the Pringle Cemetery. A reception will follow.
