Albert Duncan

Albert Wesley Duncan was born May 5, 1922, in Custer, S.D., the son of Albert Lee Duncan and Hilda Sofie Ellefsen Duncan. He attended grade school at Sanator (S.D.) and high school at Custer (S.D.) High School in South Dakota. He was active in sports where he excelled in track and field.
Albert was drafted into the United States Marine Corps at the age of 18, right out of high school, and served his country in the South Pacific during WWII. Later he served his country in the United States Army for over six years, including service in the Korean war.  Albert also produced a scale model aircraft for use by the United States Navy.
Albert married Erika, the love of his life March 3, 1956, in Berlin, Germany. Together they had three children, Pamela, Shannon and Chad.
Albert was a professional welder and worked at Kennecott for over 20 years before retiring from that mine. Following his retirement, he assisted his son, Chad, within Chad’s mechanical contracting business. He also worked as a logger in his beloved Black Hills.
Albert had many passions such as rock collecting, making wood tables and gardening at which he excelled.
Albert  passed away in Taylorsville, Utah,  Feb. 19, 2022. He was 99.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both sisters, Rose Chard of Custer and Charlotte Callan of Merced, Calif.; and both daughters, Pamela and Shannon.
Albert is survived by his loving wife, Erika Duncan; son Chad (Maria Obdulia Rodriguez Duncan) Duncan; grandchildren, Leslie Grayson, Holly Jones, Zachary Richmond, Bronson Anderson, Brook DeCroo, Brandon Duncan, Bryson Duncan, Maximillion Duncan, and Leonardo Duncan; many great-grandchildren; and many friends.
Albert’s Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 28 at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah.
