Buffalo Gap Blowout set for July 12-13
The annual Buffalo Gap Blowout makes its return to Custer County this weekend, July 12-13.
The fun starts on Friday evening. At 6 p.m. at the rodeo arena a quarter mile east of town, there will be a barrel racing jackpot event (exhibitions, peewee, youth 3D and open 4D series) presented by Crushin’ Cans. The rest of the fun takes place Saturday starting with a parade through town at 11 a.m.
From noon to 3 p.m. there will be goat roping, vendors, horseshoes and other activities. At 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., there will be a free-will donation buffalo feed supper.
At 5 p.m., folks should migrate to the rodeo arena to watch the pint-sized next generation of rodeoers participate in a mutton bustin’ event.
The ranch rodeo and ranch bronc riding begins at 6 p.m. with a Calcutta auction starting at 5:30 p.m..
After the rodeo, there will be a dance with entertainment by the band High Blue Cactus.
