The buzz on the street is local families will soon have a new option for childcare as Busy Bees Daycare is set to open this October.
Kaley Wieman, who has over a decade of combined experience in childcare and the medical field, was inspired to open her own daycare after the birth of her son Greyson, now almost 1 year old.
“The inspiration for opening up a daycare, besides already having prior childcare experience, was having my son and wanting to be home with him while also providing care for other kiddos,” said Wieman.
Wieman’s childcare background includes over five years as a nanny for two children—an experience that sparked her passion for early childhood care.
“That’s what really got me into childcare,” she said. “I just love being around the kids and giving them an environment to thrive in.”
Her qualifications extend beyond childcare into healthcare. She is a registered medical assistant and EMT CPR certified. She also holds advanced certificates in both pediatric life support and cardiac life support.
Busy Bees Daycare will operate as an in-home daycare with a strong emphasis on learning through play, creativity and outdoor activities.
“I’m really big on learning activities,” such as flash cards and children learning through play, she said. “I have jungle-gyms that they play on and all sorts of sensory activities. We are outside quite a bit,” as the weather allows.
“We just play all day,” said Wieman.
The daycare aims to offer a “safe, engaging and creative space,” where children can grow and thrive.
Wieman is eager to connect with new families in the community and offer a much-needed childcare service.
“Everybody’s struggling pretty bad with childcare right now,” she said. “So I had quite a few parents reach out.”
As a small, in-home provider, Wieman wants to be accommodating for everyone, but has limited availability for children of different ages.
