Incumbents win commission race

Three current members of the Custer County Commission will all return for another four-year term after receiving the most votes in a four-way race in yesterday’s General Election.
Republican incumbents Mike Linde, Jim Lintz and Craig Hindle were the top finishers in the race, gaining 3,054, 2,904 and 2,797 votes respectively. Independent challenger Kevin Rosse finished fourth with 1,500 votes.
In the race for the two District 30 seats in the South Dakota House of Representatives, incumbent Republican Trish Ladner will return for another two-year term after receiving the most votes with 8,306. She will be joined by fellow Republican Dennis Krull, who captured 7,632 votes. Finishing in third was Democratic candidate Bret Swanson, who grabbed 3,217 votes.
In statewide races, voters appear to have once again rejected recreational marijuana in the state, with 53 percent voting against legalization via Initiated Measure 27 and 47 percent voting for the measure.
Amendment D, which would amend the state constitution to expand Medicaid eligibility, appeared to be passed by voters as of press time by a 56 to 44 percent vote.
Other winners include  current Gov. Kristi Noem, current U.S. Rep. Dusty Johnson and current U.S. Sen. John Thune.
