Maxine Mills
Maxine Elaine Mills was born in Rapid City, S.D., to Clifford Oney and Minnie Craven Dec. 6, 1924. She went to high school in Rapid City, S.D., later graduating from the University of New Mexico. She worked as a nurse for the Indian Health Service for 35 years starting at Sioux Sanitorium, then later throughout Alaska, Arizona and New Mexico.
Maxine, of Hill City, S.D., and previously of Grantz, N.M., passed away on March 6, 2024. She was 99.
Maxine is survived by her two sons, Eugene (Melba) Kendrick of Fremont, Calif., and Larry (Lucy) Williamson of Hill City; her brother, Norman (Myrna) of Hot Springs, S.D.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous great great-grandchildren; and many, many special friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, at 3 p.m. at the Little White Church in Hill City. Inurnment will be later at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D. Memorials may be given to Meals on Wheels of the Black Hills.
