Phyllis Boettcher

Phyllis (Hagenlock) Boettcher was born May 6, 1934, in Seneca, S.D., to Paul and Theresa (Gogolin) Hagenlock.  The family included a sister, Jean Akers.  
They moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1935.  Phyllis attended Custer, S.D., schools and graduated in 1952.  She attended Central Business College in Denver, Colo. Over the years she was employed at Ben Franklin’s, Paul’s Shoe and Western Wear, Ranch Market and Black Hills Ordnance Depot in Igloo, S.D. 
Phyllis married Charles Boettcher Sept. 5, 1954, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Custer and was a member of that church. Through the years she enjoyed being a Brownie Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader and 4-H Leader.  She enjoyed community activities which included voting polls and taking census, family genealogy, photography and needlework crafts. 
Phyllis passed away June 4, 2020, at her residence in Ipswich, S.D. She was 86. 
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles Boettcher. 
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Brian Boettcher of Ipswich and Sam Boettcher of Custer; six grandchildren, Chad, Lyndsi, Morgan, Kaden, Kamryn and Danette; five great- grandchildren, Quinn, Elliot, Clark, Abel and Alexis; sister, Jean Akers; niece, Adele Lerch; sister-in-law, Dee Ann Scheurer; and Dee Ann’s daughter, Melissa, both of Olive Branch, Miss. 
Committal services are at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, at Custer Cemetery with Pastor Lynn Wilson officiating. 
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
