Quilted Buffalo now open

Custer has a new shop featuring fabric, quilting supplies and yarn: the Quilted Buffalo.
The Quilted Buffalo opened this summer at 36 S. 6th St. and owner Stacy Fickbohm has an array of products, patterns and quilt knowledge.
Fickbohm’s idea for the Quilted Buffalo first came about because she was simply a quilter in Custer looking for a quilt shop closer than Edgemont.
Fickbohm suggested to her family, “We should open a quilt shop” and after months of hard work, The Quilted Buffalo’s doors opened in May.
The Quilted Buffalo is open Wednesday-Sunday and Fickbohm expresses the store welcomes both beginning quilters looking for projects and intermediate quilters looking for creative ideas.
Fickbohm notes sewing talent isn’t required to start quilting.
“You can follow patterns if you’re not comfortable yet,” she said.
Fickbohm will soon have quilting classes but until then, The Quilted Buffalo has artistic kits available and varieties of packaged notions for projects.
Different from ordering on a website, The Quilted Buffalo’s customers can feel full-color fabric bolts, and compare unique yarn and wool in-person.
Fickbohm especially notes how the Quilted Buffalo is here in Custer to advance the objective of “keeping our mental and emotional well-being healthy through the creative arts,” she said.
