Robert Dugan
Robert J. Dugan was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Murdo, S.D., to Robert L. Dugan and Elaine L. Dugan. His family moved to Rapid City, S.D., when Jerry was in the third grade and he grew up there.
Later on he moved to Seattle, Wash., where he met and married Freddie Post with whom he had two children, Amy L. Dugan Senger and Kaysee A. Dugan Kauer.
They divorced and later Jerry met and married the mother of his two younger children, Tyler J. Dugan and Kristen Dugan Davidson. Jerry later on met his life partner, Karen Rittberger, and they ranched East of Buffalo Gap, S.D.
Jerry enjoyed hunting and ranch life. He loved old cars and went to the Kool Deadwood (S.D.) Nights several years with his ’57 Chevy. Jerry worked for the Custer County Highway Department for several years as a blade operator.
Jerry passed away Jan. 26, 2024, from a brief illness, at the Custer (S.D.) Care and Rehab Center. He was 73.
He Jerry is survived by his life partner, Karen; mother, Elaine L. Dugan; four children, Amy (Kevin) Dugan Senger, Kaysee (Gary) Dugan Kauer, Tyler Dugan, and Kristen (Ben) Dugan Davidson; two sisters, Susan (Phil Lampert) Knudtson and Judy Dugan Stephens; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and all of his friends.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer. Committal services will be held immediately after at Cold Springs Cemetery near Pringle, S.D.
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held in the Spring of 2024.
