Sandra Davies

Sandra Davies, mostly known as Gail, was born in 1940 in Campbellton, New Brunswick, Canada. She was raised in Bellevue, Ontario, Canada.  
Following high school, she enrolled in nursing school and became a registered nurse. She was a practicing nurse in Canada and after marrying her husband, a U.S. Navy sailor, in many U.S. cities until retiring in Newport, R.I,  in 2000.
In 2013 she moved to Custer where she made many friends with Wittrock Road residents and as a member of Custer Zonta Club, Custer Republican Women’s Club and the Do-Nothing Club.
She loved animals and while living in Custer adopted many dogs and two cats. Her last two dogs, black labs, and the cats are still being cared for by her husband. One of her favorite activities was a drive through the park on the Wildlife Loop Road. She enjoyed watching her husband feed deer near their house every afternoon.
She was an avid flower gardener and used her own clippings to make beautiful arrangements for her friends and family.
Gail passed away peacefully June 15 at home in Henderson, Nev. She was 82. Her husband and daughter were at the bedside saying goodbye.
She was preceeded in death by her son, Michael, and her brother, Gary.
Gail is survived by a daughter and her husband of 55 years. After meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii they were married in Toronto, Canada in 1967. She is remembered by her cousins and an aunt of Campbellton and by her sister-in-law of Milton, Ontario.
A memorial service will be held at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home, 632 St. Francis St., Rapid City Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.  A private interment will be held the next day at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.
