Rickie Bonnette

On Nov. 2, 1957, Rickie Bonnette was born in Pipestone, Minn., to Violet (Waddington) Holmes and Richard Waddington. She was raised by and very close to her stepfather Herbert Holmes. The family resided in Custer, S,D.
After her 18th birthday Rickie moved to Rawlins, Wyo., where she lived with her dear friends, Clifford and Thelma Davis. While there, she worked at a roller-skating rink where she met her first husband, Randy Bonnett. They were married in March 1977 and in 1978, their daughter, Tina, was born. Three and a half years later their son, Martin, was born.

Orval Elliott

Orval DeVere Elliott was born May 26, 1934, in Buffalo Gap, S.D., to Frank Orval Elliott and Ruth (Miller) Elliott.
Orval was raised in the Buffalo Gap and Hot Springs, S.D., area. Orville was known by many different names from his family and friends, such as “Jr.,” ”Grandpa Smokey,” “Snowball,” “Ice Cream Man,” or “Big O.” He was a wonderful father and loved everybody. We were very fortunate to have him with us for as long as we did. We will miss him deeply.
Orval passed away Jan. 11, 2024, in Arizona surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.

Gary Parsons

Gary William Parsons was born June 18, 1957 in Hot Springs, S.D., to Greer and Marcella Parsons.
Gary grew up in Custer, S.D., and graduated from Custer High School in 1975.
After graduating High school he worked at Red Owl and Piggly Wiggly stores in Custer, Safeway in Sheridan, Wyo.,  and again at Piggly Wiggly in Belle Fourche and Spearfish, S.D., as the manager.
The opportunity to strike out on his own in the grocery business presented itself in 1981 in Bowman, N.D. He owned and operated Gary’s Jack & Jill for 35 years.

Doris Tweden

Doris Tweden was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on Dec. 8, 1946, to Albert and Jane (Garretson) Tweden.
Doris was an LPN that worked in nursing homes in various states. The majority of her nursing career was at the state hospital working with the mentally and physically handicapped.
Doris, of Custer, S.D., passed away Jan. 14, 2024, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. She was 77.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Kenneth Kewley.

Kitty Aman

Kitty Lou Aman, 60, passed away Jan. 19, 2024.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 24, at 10 a.m. at First Congregation Church of Rapid City, S.D.
Arrangements are with Kirk Funeral Home.

Jack O’Connor

Jack Dean O’Connor was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Custer, S.D., to Floyd “Mickey” O’Connor and Ruth Graham O’Connor. He attended school in Custer, graduating from Custer High School in 1956. He later attended and graduated from Black Hills Teachers’ College (now Black Hills State University) in 1960 with a B.S. in business education.

Robert Linde

Robert E. “Bob” Linde was born July 10, 1936, in Custer, S.D., to parents Reinhart and Martha (Lyndoe) Linde.
He married Jan Linde March 7, 1968.
Bob, of Custer, S.D., passed away Dec. 26, 2023.  He was 87.
He is survived by his brothers, David Linde and Jack Linde; stepdaughter, Niki Woodward; step grandchildren, Dakota Dah and Rachel Rodriquez and their children, Remo, Casper and Dio.
Celebration of Bob’s life will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Custer Lutheran Fellowship with committal services following at Custer Cemetery.

Eliyanah Carson

Eliyanah Grace Carson was born sleeping Dec. 26, 2023 at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, S.D.
She was a highly anticipated addition to her family and her short presence on this earth was a wonderful gift.
She was preceded into Heaven by her grandfather, Gary Carson; grandmother, Sheila Green; and grandfather, Bill Molitor.

David Padgett

David LeRoy Padgett was born to Gerald and Gladys Padgett March 25, 1934, in Bowman, N.D. Dave was their second child, following his big sister Irene, who was three years older.
Unfortunately, his Dad passed from illness when Dave was 7. In 1948 Gladys was remarried to Knute Erickson, and the family grew with three stepbrothers—Duane, Marion and Myron and a few years later, a half brother, Knute Jr.

Joyce Jindra

Born in San Antonio Texas, Joyce Jindra was raised in Albuquerque, N.M. She moved to Minneapolis, Minn., with her husband Ed (Ed’s home place) after their marriage in New Mexico in 1955. The two met at the Sandía Air Force base where Ed was stationed. She was the beloved mother of three daughters, Cynthia, Christine and Cheryl.
