Conn documentary premieres Oct. 2 in Rapid City

Local climbing and caving legends Jan and Herb Conn are the subject of a feature-length documentary in the 17th annual Black Hills Film Festival at the Journey Museum in Rapid City Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m., and tickets are going fast.

Custer State Park holds annual Buffalo Roundup

The whips cracked, the crowd cheered and the buffalo cooperated—save for one or two who felt the need to direct their ire at a horse—as the 61st annual Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup took place on a sun-splashed Sept. 25 morning.
Thousands of visitors watched as Custer State Park and South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks staff were joined by a bevy of volunteers to push approximately 1,500 buffalo to the park corrals where they are tested, branded and sorted.

Residents asked to help find ‘news deserts’

As a new foundation launches to help fund media organizations, two upcoming discussions will focus on how people get their news in order to ensure access to trusted information.
Eda Uzunlar spent part of this year traveling across the nation of Turkey to learn how people get their news, and now the Rapid City native plans to conduct similar research in the United States.

Studebaker awards presented

Studebaker owners from 13 states gathered in downtown Custer Sept. 6  for a free show to visitors in celebration of this historic automobile brand and showing their cars and trucks. These had been manufactured from the 1920s through 1966.
