Angie Ross already has a hair cutting business in town. Now, she has opened a new venture: Gypsy Soul Boutique.

“I always wanted to do a boutique, and I saw this as an opportunity to get one started because the other boutiques in town have closed,” she said.

Ross’s new business is located in Old World Plaza and is connected to her hair salon, First Impressions Salon. Ross moved to the new location from her old one earlier in the fall.

Having outgrown her old location, the move to the larger space sparked the idea and made a dream a reality.

To come up with the name, Ross said she sent out a message to her friends to get feedback. What they came up with was what Gypsy Soul Boutique to life.

Ross credits Wally Matush, owner of Old World Plaza, for helping her make the dream come true.

At the boutique, Ross sells clothes from size small to four XL. She said she would describe the style as “Boho chic.”

“This is a shop where everyone can find something,” she said. “But it is very modern. There’s also a little bit of Western style in here, too.”

While the selection is large at Gypsy Soul, Ross said the pieces are unique, meaning she doesn’t carry a lot of the same items.

“People shouldn’t worry about buying something here and then see someone wearing the same thing walking down the street,” she said.

In addition to all that, Ross also sells Hill City Ranger gear at the store.

She said she does not financially benefit from the Ranger gear. All of the proceeds from that, she said, belong to the booster club, of which Ross is a member.

The official opening of the store was during Girlfriends’ Weekend at the beginning of the month, and since then, Ross said the reception from the town has been wonderful.

“I think people are excited to have another boutique in town,” she said. “And I definitely have the support of the other Main Street businesses. And I plan to be open year-round, too.”
