Brian Barber

Brian Allen Barber was born Oct. 28, 1961,  to Harold and LaVonna Barber in Wessington Springs, S.D. Brian was very busy on the family farm and working with several local farmers in the Springs area. Brian was also active in rodeo, riding bareback in high school and 4-H rodeos.
Brian’s family moved to Custer, S.D., in 1978, after his junior year in high school. After high school Brian joined the National Guard. After moving to Cheyenne, Wyo., Brian transferred to the Air National Guard. Brian returned to Custer for a few years before moving to Auburn, Wash., where he learned his welding trade and started his business, Techweld, before returning to Custer again in 1993 to work with his dad and brothers in the family business. Brian continued to run his welding business through the years doing many jobs for several local businesses.
Brian died Oct. 25, 2019, at his home in Hermosa, S.D. He was 57.
He was preceeded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Brian is survived by two brothers, Tim Barber of Custer and Monte Barber of Hot Springs; sister, Christy Barber of Rapid City; nieces, Briana Smejkal of Minneapolis, Minn., and Shayla Smejkal of Rapid City, S.D.; and nephews Cameron Barber and Donovan Keifert of Rapid City.
