Carnival coming to CHS prom April 25
It’s going to be a night of fun, dancing and celebrating at Custer High School prom Saturday, April 25. This year’s theme is “Rio Carnival,” and attendees can expect an abundance of vibrant, leafy, colorful decorations, including some feathers and balloons.
Students should plan to arrive at school around 6 p.m. to pay for their tickets, take some pictures with friends and family members and prepare to line up for the grand march. Tickets are $15 each.
Community members are also encouraged to come at 6 p.m. to get a seat in the theater for the 7 p.m. grand march. During the march, the names of couples will be called as they walk across the stage and pose in front of a decorative backdrop for photos.
Then, at 8 p.m., community attendees will leave and the dance will begin in the high school commons area. The party will continue until 11 p.m., and then it is off to The Custer Beacon for post-prom.
Post-prom comes with a surprise theme and a variety of games like corn hole, axe throwing, giant Jenga, tic-tac-toe, giant Connect Four, bucket ball, KerPlunk, cribbage, blackjack, poker, roulette and more. There will also be a photo booth.
Snacks will be readily available with things like cotton candy, popcorn, pizza, meat and cheese trays, treats from Custer County Candy Company, fruit trays and more. Miner’s Cup will be there as well, and each student will get one free ticket.
Attendees can expect an abundance of prizes too. At the door, they will mark down their grade, and drawings will be held for each group throughout the evening. There will also be three grand prizes. In the bonus bucket, names will be selected for cash drawings throughout the event.
Then, at 2 a.m., the festivities will wrap up.
“Bring a good attitude and be ready for a good time,” said prom advisor Sami Lebert.
