While most people are enjoying summer vacations, Pete Stach is envisioning twinkling lights and holiday cheer.
A Christmas in July fundraiser will be held July 10 at Prairie Dog Taproom to support and expand the Light Up Hill City initiative, spearheaded by Stach, to create a premier holiday destination and designate Hill City as the Christmas capital of South Dakota.
“We have an application into the state for the Christmas Capital of South Dakota,” said Stach.
The event aims to raise funds for Christmas decorations, including new bows for the street lights and Christmas trees.
Held from 5-7 p.m., the event will feature live music and a silent auction.
In addition to the fundraiser, four quilts will be up for raffle through mid-September when winners will be drawn.
Stach not only seeks funds for the project but is in need of volunteers, from preparation of materials, to hanging lights and decor.
“I’m doing this on a lot of fronts,” said Stach. “A little bit for me, because I just love it. Secondly, this is a great city, and it has the perfect setting for it.”
