Courthouse seeks time capsule donations

As part of the centennial celebration of the 1922 Courthouse, Pennington County is seeking donations of items for a time capsule that will be placed in 2022 to mark the start of another 100 years of history.

 

The county is asking for citizens to donate stories, memories and mementos representative of the people, cultures and communities that make up Pennington County. 

 

Citizens are encouraged to think of items that will tell the story of our times and what message they want to send into prosperity. Items could be representative of the current social, economic, cultural or political climate.

 

Items for donation should be taken to the Commission Office by November 30. The Commission Office is located in the County Administration Building, 130 Kansas City Street, Rapid City, and is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

The suggested guidelines for items submitted are as follows:

• Letters or drawings on paper no larger than 8.5” x 11”

• Printed photographs (on photo paper) no larger than 8” x 10”

• Books or brochures no larger than 5” x 8” x 0.5”

• Items no larger than 2” x 2” x 1”
