Custer CAP named top state squadron

Crazy Horse Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol of Custer was named South Dakota Squadron of the Year at the 2022 South Dakota Wing Conference.  The award recognizes holistic support for the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) missions within the state.
“Crazy Horse Composite Squadron received this award because of the broad support members give to the programs of CAP,” said Col. Michael Marek, CAP commander for the South Dakota Wing. “They are professional, enthusiastic, and highly respected in our South Dakota Civil Air Patrol family.”
Crazy Horse Composite Squadron is accepting new adult and youth members interested in emergency services, aviation, aerospace/STEM education and serving the community, state and nation. With close to 400 members in South Dakota and additional units in Brookings, Miller/Faulkton, Pierre, Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Spearfish and Tea, the wing can deploy its six aircraft, ground teams and small search drones to assist in disaster response and other support to local, state, tribal and federal agencies.
