Gayle Zelenka

Gayle Lea Zelenka was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Aberdeen S.D., to William Busch and LaVerne Wells. She spent her life raising three sons and one grandchild. She was a loving homemaker and a huge part of Daughters of the Nile, achieving status of queen and active in Eastern Star.

Gayle, of Custer S.D., died peacefully Aug. 15, 2019, with her family by her side at Heritage Park Care Center. She was 78.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, whom she married in April 1966; and brother, Karl Dixon of Jamestown N.D.

Gayle is survived by her sons, Tom Zelenka of Santa Fe, N.M., Bob (Stephanie) Zelenka of Lakewood, Colo., and Jeff (Shauna) Zelenka of Silt, Colo.; brother, Gary (Neva) Busch of Pocahontas, Ark.; sisters, Diane (Gary) Zahalka of Aberdeen, Tamara Dixon and Cheryl Orman of Fargo, N.D.; and grandson, Jared Zelenka of Silt.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Custer Lutheran Fellowship Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D.
