Jack Kitchen

Jack Kitchen, 85, of Custer, S.D., passed away Oct. 20, 2025.  
He was born April 21, 1940, in Hot Springs, S.D., to Vernon and Evelyn (McFayden) Kitchen.   He graduated from Custer High School. 
Jack was honorably discharge from the U.S. National Guard and worked for the VR Sawmill; Custer Lumber; both the city and county of Custer and after retiring from the city he worked for Bradeen Auctions.
He was quite the storyteller and loved collecting things. 
Jack is survived by his sister, Patsy (James) Hattervig of Custer; half sister, Joan of Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Denise Dillion; his parents, Evelyn and Vern; and his sister, Sharie.
Memorial services were Oct. 29 at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer with committal service following at Custer Cemetery.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
