The Hill City Rangers golf team edged out Newell to take second out of the five teams that competed in the Newell tournament this past week.
The weather was ideal and the team played strong, especially with the return of Zane Messick to the roster. Messick had been out with an injury and this was his first tournament back.
Coach Josh Daiss was pleased with the team's performance.
“The boys played better this week, finishing second with a team total of 291,” Daiss said.
Leo Daiss led the team with a total score of 89 putting him in fourth place overall. Daiss made par on  seven of the 18 holes played during the tournament.
Messick placed sixth overall with a total score of 95.
The Rangers travel to Belle Fourche on Friday for their next tournament.
