“We set a goal at the beginning of the season to qualify as a team,” he said. “We knew this group had a chance to be the first Ranger boys team to qualify and I am so proud of these kids. They put in the work and can’t think of a better group of kids to achieve this goal.”
The Rangers fired a team total of 282, which was second behind Wall, which finished with a total of 266.  Leo Daiss led the Rangers with an 89 and fifth place finish, while Zane Messick fired a 96. which placed him in 15th. Adolph Tyler finished with a 97 and in 16th place.
“Leo and Zane have been solid all year. Adolph stepped up huge yesterday with his best tournament of the year and that was key to the team total,” Coach Daiss said. “Cory has been a great teammate and big brother to the younger kids all year and we are excited to be able to bring them all to the state tournament.”
Team member Leo Daiss shares his excitement of the team’s achievement.
“At the beginning of the season I was excited because of how many new golfers we had,” he said.
As the season continued both Leo and his teammates improved.
“When we started to consistently place higher as a team it was very exciting, with the thought of bringing a team to state,” he said.
Leo acknowledges that even though golf is a sport with individual scores, everyone’s  personal accomplishments help to buoy the overall  team’s success.
“I am really happy and excited for everyone; our only senior this year gets to be a part of it,” he said. “So I feel like we helped him achieve something he wanted to do.”
Zane Messick, who was injured to begin the season  agress it’s been an exciting season.
“It’s been a great year thus far. When I got hurt  I did not think I was going to be able to compete at all this year,” he said. “Messick was able to play in three tournaments prior to the regions and will be competing in state as well. I am so glad I was able to come back to be a part of history nd be on the first ever boys state qualifying team for Hill City.”
