Victor Pohribnak

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Victor “Vick” Edward Pohribnak of Hill City, SD, formerly of Killdeer, ND, on 22 April, 2021 at the age of 75 years.

 Vick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Rita; his children Daniell (Ryan) Steele of Vincennes, In., Dallas (Kevin) Totten of Mena, Ark., Joshua Pohribnak of Chula Vista, Cali.; his grandchildren, Donovan, Julia, Harlee, Maycee and Annabella; and his sisters, Mary, Mabel, Emily, and Ethyl.

 Vick was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Lena; his brother Marty, and sister, Marion.

 Vick passed away on Thursday, April 22, at his home in Hill City, SD.  Vick was born on Jan. 10, 1946 to Martin and Lena (Zakopayko) Pohribnak in Grassy Butte, ND.  He attended Killdeer High School and graduated in 1965.  Vick then served in the United States Army for a tour of four years.  After returning from the military, Vick worked with custom combining.   Vick started his own successful oil field business, Orion Oil and Gas, in 1983. On September 21, 1987, Victor married Rita Oliszczak in Rapid City, SD.  Vick enjoyed spending time working in his garage.  He was exceptionally gifted at fixing machinery, woodworking, metalworking, and construction.  Vick was an inventor, utilizing his knowledge and expertise for various projects and even obtained patents for his inventions.  Vick enjoyed spending the day on the lake fishing. He especially loved classic cars and enjoyed nothing more than to rebuild engines, restoration of vehicles and driving his completed projects.  His prized possession was a restored 1952 MGTD.  Vick loved to be around animals, especially his dogs.  Vick was a loving husband, father and grandfather who always went above and beyond to provide for his family.

  A small celebration of Vick’s life was held at 2 p.m. on May 1, 2021, at the Pohribnak residence at 24162 Hwy 385 Hill City, SD 57747.

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer, SD.
