Wildcats wrap up season with loss to Hot Springs
The Custer High School Wildcats fought for a chance to move forward in the region volleyball games but were thwarted by the Hot Springs Bison Nov. 4.
Custer hosted the Class A Region 8 quarterfinal game at the armory last Tuesday. Although it was a loss for the Wildcats, they played a consistent game, going 25-17 in all three sets.
“I was very proud of how the girls played. They did a nice job adjusting to the different lineups that we had. I’m just so proud of them,” said head coach Jill Hohn.
She particularly wanted to acknowledge the seniors who were on the court.
“Keira Nelson, Ava Hohn, Kylee Ellerton—They did a nice job. They really stepped up as leaders on the court,” said Hohn.
Coach Hohn said hroughout the game, Nelson and Rylan Lowe made a great team with Lowe setting and Nelson slamming the balls across the net. Meanwhile, in the back row, Ellerton took the lead.
“The way Kylee Ellerton moved on the court was phenomenal. She just did a great job covering all aspects of the court,” coach Hohn said.
The girls had additional support from Molly Frederick-Medlen, Madelyn Baker and Maddy Noble.
“Those three came in, and they really did a great job,” said Hohn.
That is a wrap for the Wildcats volleyball season.
“I’m very proud of the girls throughout the season, how they persevered and how well they played on that last game,” Hohn said.
